There are many ways to help save animals in need here at home and everywhere...
Adopt, don't shop! Adopting a Colombian criollito is not for everyone, so please consider adopting from a Canadian rescue or your local humane society before going to a breeder or a pet store. There are many wonderful local pups searching for their happy endings too.
Donate! In addition to monetary aid for food, shelter and medical supplies, we are also in need of plastic crates approved for airline travel, waterproof doggie coats (it gets cool and wet in the Andes Mountains around Bogota!), leashes, harnesses and collars -- especially for small to medium-sized dogs. We will pick up any donated items in southern Ontario, Calgary or the Vancouver area. Please note that for monetary donations, we are a registered not-for-profit organization, but not a charitable organization, therefore we cannot issue tax receipts for monetary donations.
If you're travelling to another part of the world where pet overpopulation is a problem, please consider donating to a local rescue group in that area. If you're heading down to Latin America or the Caribbean, we know of a number of excellent rescue organizations in countries including the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico and Jamaica and can put you in touch.
Volunteer! If you are travelling to Colombia and back, and are able to escort a dog to Toronto or Vancouver, please contact us. The rescue covers all costs, and provides the necessary paperwork for customs to indicate that you are volunteering for a registered NFP. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about how you can help. It costs nothing other than some extra time on your part at the end of your trip. You can change the life of a dog forever -- not to mention the lives of their new Canadian family members.
Foster! If you are in the GTA and are willing to foster one of our pups, please contact us. All costs are covered.
