For dogs that are still in Colombia, you must be able to cover travel costs to Toronto, including the flight, crate, an international medical certificate and any duties to be paid on arrival. We make the flight arrangements, complete all of the paperwork and pick up the dogs at the airport. Please note: we do not make any money from these transactions, and we are a registered not-for-profit. Our job is to match the dogs with suitable adopters and help with the process/pickup, it's hugely rewarding for everyone involved, and we have experienced many happy endings. Dogs that have been sponsored and are already in Toronto are listed first on this page, and their adoption fees are found in their profiles below.
We are always looking for volunteers travelling to Colombia and back that are willing to help. It's pretty simple: someone from the rescue will meet you at the airport in Colombia with the dog, and when you land, one of our Canadian volunteers will be there to pick up the dog. The rescue covers all costs and provides the necessary paperwork for customs that indicates you are volunteering for a registered NFP. It's a great way to help a dog in need without a long-term commitment -- cargo flights are very expensive -- this makes it easier and more affordable for Canadian families to adopt one of these amazing mutts! Please contact us if you'd like to know more about how you can help.

This is handsome Harry!
This is handsome Harry! He was found as a stray by a teenage boy in a bus station in Bogotá, so we don't really know his story. The boy took him home and his parents called the rescue.
Harry was a matted mess when he was found, but he has lived in a Colombian foster home for several months, and did so well. Harry arrived in Toronto with his BFF and doppelganger Dante (Dante was just adopted), and is looking for a forever family! He's about 2, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

This adorable little girl is called Amy.
This adorable little girl is called Amy.She was found wandering the streets by one of our volunteers. Amy was following a couple of young girls with snacks and begging for food from them on a pretty busy thoroughfare.
She was very thin and dirty and her paws had sores from all the time she had spent pounding the pavement. Our kind volunteer bought her a snack and a leash and then they searched the neighbourhood for someone who knew her, but there were no takers, so she went home to live with her rescuer.

Meet Junior!
Meet Junior!.Junior is a small-ish terrier mix with expressive honey-coloured eyes and the sweetest temperament.
A couple of our volunteers met him last fall, and learned that he'd been waiting quite awhile for a family. We decided he'd waited long enough, this little guy deserves a shot at happiness up here -- he's scheduled to arrive in early April.

Harry arrived in Toronto with his BFF and doppelganger Dante (Dante was just adopted), and is looking for a forever family! He's about 2, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Harry's a very affectionate dog, with unusual green eyes, a great smile and a charming little under-bite. He has the softest hair and his coat is very much like a Maltese. He loves to be out and about and doing things! Harry is very friendly with all people and will shower new friends with kisses and snuggles. Harry gets along well with other dogs, and is very playful. He's 54 cm tall and 68 cm long, he weighs 7 kilos, so he's a small guy. He'd love a house with a fenced yard, or someone that can take him on long walks, as he's quite active! He will also need some training on how to walk nicely on a leash, as he pulls and gets excited. He's okay with cats too, but has not been tested with small kids, so we're searching for a home without them. Harry's adoption fee is $800. He is being fostered in Toronto. Please contact us via email with your application, if you're interested in meeting handsome Harry. |

This adorable little girl is called Amy.
She was found wandering the streets by one of our volunteers. Amy is about 2-3 years old and she's very petite at 4.7 kilos. She's recently been spayed and had a dental as well (Amy had 2 teeth extracted, life on the street is not kind and the dogs often eat what they can find...) . She's got a million dollar smile now and is a happy, healthy girl that's put some meat on her wee bones as well! You can see a short video of her here. Amy is house trained and vaccinated. She's quiet and friendly with people, and gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She does demand a lot of attention from her foster mom, and likes to be held and snuggled a lot. She sleeps on her foster mom's bed at night. Amy will be tested with cats when she arrives in Canada. Due to her small size, we're searching for a home without young children. Amy will be arriving at the end of March, 2017. Her adoption fee is 600.00. She will also be micro-chipped when she arrives. Please contact us if you'd like more info on this doll. |

Meet Junior!
Junior is a small-ish terrier mix with expressive honey-coloured eyes and the sweetest temperament. A couple of our volunteers met him last fall, and learned that he'd been waiting quite awhile for a family. We decided he'd waited long enough, this little guy deserves a shot at happiness up here -- he's scheduled to arrive in early April. Junior was found and rescued from the streets by Dr. Martha, one of our rescue vets. She scooped him up after seeing him hanging around her clinic, looking scrawny and lost, scrounging for food and dodging traffic. Junior has flourished under her care. He's between 2 and 3 years old now, weighs 7 kilos, is 60cm long and 42 cm tall. He is neutered, vaccinated and house trained. He will be micro-chipped when he arrives. He's very friendly with people. Junior lives and gets along with large and small dogs. He will be tested with cats in his foster home. He is not tested with small children and we're searching for a home with kids that are 10+. You can see a short video of him here. Junior's adoption fee is 700.00 which covers the cost to transport him here. Please contact us via email, if you're interested in the adoption process and meeting this special little guy next month. He will be fostered in east Toronto. |

This little lady is called Lulu.
She was abandoned by her family as a puppy and has been living on a farm with one of our rescue vets ever since that day last fall. Lulu is delightfully fuzzy poodle mix, and she bears more than a passing resemblance to a teddy bear! She's between 12 and 18 months old now and weighs 9 kilos (she's slightly bigger than she appears and is a nice small to medium-sized girl); she is 54cm long and 46cm tall. She is spayed, vaccinated and house trained. Lulu lives with and gets along well with dogs of all sizes and types, she loves her foster mom, Dr. Martha, and is very friendly with the people that visit the refuge where she lives. She really deserves a family that can give her all of the affection and attention she craves. Lulu has not had any obedience training, so she will need to learn how to sit, stay, walk nicely on a leash, etc. When she arrives in Toronto, her foster family will be working with her on this. She will also be groomed, micro-chipped and tested with cats. Because she is not well-tested with young kids, we are searching for a home with kids that are 10+. You can see some video of her here. Lulu's adoption fee is 800.00. She will be arriving in early April, 2017. Please contact us via email if you're interested in adopting Lulu. |

Meet Vito!
Vito is very handsome, young poodle mix that was picked up as a stray and is now in foster care with one of our rescue vets. Some poodles are just cute, but somehow Vito also has that certain working dog nobility about him -- he looks kind of like a small sheepdog! However, he does have a silly side, and you can see some of that on display here. He weighs in at about 11 kilos and he's 42 cm tall, and 70 cm long, so he's a solid, medium-sized guy. Vito is just between 11 and 18 months of age, neutered, vaccinated and house trained. He gets along well with other dogs and is very friendly with people; he has not been tested with cats or young kids. As Vito is still in Colombia, and the cost to bring him here is approximately $1200.00, which covers cargo airfare and the necessary paperwork. The rescue makes all of the arrangements for the adoptive family, and will pick up Vito at the airport. He will also be micro-chipped. Please contact us if you'd like more info on this noble and deserving dude, and the adoption process. |

This is Toby!
Toby is a stunning Schnauzer mix that was found as a stray in an economically vulnerable area of south Bogotá and taken into foster care by one of our rescue volunteers in Colombia. We don't know his back story, but we're betting he had a home at one time and was either abandoned or lost. He weighs a solid 11 kilos and is a sporty and muscular guy, true to the Schnauzer breed. He's very active, and would make a wonderful walking or hiking companion, and he loves to play! He'd do best in a house with a fenced yard. He has not been tested with cats or small kids, so we're searching for a home without them. Toby is neutered, vaccinated and house trained. He gets along well with other dogs and lives with several of them in his foster home. He can be reactive and excitable on leash, so his new family will need to work with him on this. Otherwise, he's a friendly and happy dude! Toby is still in Colombia, and the cost to bring him here is approximately $1100, which covers his airfare and the necessary paperwork. The rescue makes all of the arrangements for the adoptive family, and will pick him up at the airport. He will also be micro-chipped when he arrives, for his new family. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about Toby, and the adoption process. |

Meet lovely Lola!
Lola was abandoned as a pup. She's only about 10 months old now, and is in foster care in Bogotá, Colombia. Lola is a Poodle-Terrier mix, perhaps with a bit of Schnauzer in there as well. She has a poodle-type coat, and will need regular brushing and trips to the groomer. Miss Lola is spayed, vaccinated and house trained. She's a very petite girl, tipping the scales at 6.8 kilos. Lola gets along well with other dogs, but has not been tested with cats or small kids, so we're searching for a home without them. Lola is a friendly and playful girl. As a young dog, she will benefit from basic obedience training and some on-leash work. She is very snuggly with her foster mom and the other dogs in her foster home. You can see some video of her here and here. As Lola is still in Colombia, and the cost to bring her here is approximately $950.00, which covers her cargo airfare and the necessary paperwork. The rescue makes all of the arrangements for the adoptive family, and will pick up Lola at the airport. She will also be micro-chipped when she arrives, which will be in early April, 2017. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about lovely Lola, and the adoption process. |
